No unified visa proposal, says official

ABU DHABI — The unified visit visa proposal, which allows a person to travel freely in the GCC, has not been prepared by the authorities concerned, according to Colonel Nasir Al Awadi Al Minhali, Director of Abu Dhabi Naturalisation and Residency Department (ADNRD).

“We have not moved yet to study the possibilities of issuing visit visa like the European Union (EU) Shengen visa that gives the visitors the right to move freely in the GCC countries,” said Al Mihali recently.

He added that as of now all the visitors must abide by the visit visa rules of the UAE.

The clarification comes in t he wake of media reports that the Economy Department was studying a suggestion to issue a unified visa for GCC visitors enabling them to move across the GCC region that will positively reflect on tourism and trading activities.
