Certificate need to be presented at check-in for inspection prior to flying from Abu Dhabi, says airline
Dubai - Pakistani nationals in the UAE will no longer be issued manual passports after November. In a statement issued on Tuesday, the Embassy of Pakistan, Abu Dhabi, urged all Pakistani nationals to urgently obtain Machine Readable Passports either from the Pakistani missions in the UAE or the regional passport offices in Pakistan.
“If there is an emergency case, we will consider issuing outpasses but will not issue manual passports,” said a spokesperson from the Pakistan Consulate in Dubai. November is the deadline given by the International Civil Aviation Organisation to all countries to phase out the manual booklets. The spokesperson said no statistics were available on the number of manual passports currently in circulation.
