Nine shops closed for violations

ABU DHABI — The Food Inspection department of the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA) detected 50 violations concerning quality and storage of foodstuff and ordered closure of nine shops for not adhering to the hygiene standards.

“The department destroyed 748kg of foodstuff and issued 896 warnings to food outlets, cafes and others. Nine food outlets were ordered closed,” said Mohammed Jalal Al Reyaysa, Manager ADFCA’s Communication and Information Department.

The department fined 50 restaurants, cafeterias, groceries, bakeries and cafes for various reasons.

The Meat Inspection Department (MID) carried out 2,064 inspections, slapped fines on 27 shopkeepers and issued warnings to 135. Two meat shops were closed for violations.
