Nine Killed in Road Accidents During Eid Holidays

ABU DHABI — Nine people were killed and 92 others were injured in different road accidents in Abu Dhabi during the Eid holidays, police said.

“From September 30 to October 4, around 44 traffic accidents took place in Abu Dhabi, Western Region and Al Ain, said Major Yaslam Al Tamimi, Head of Serious Accidents Section, Abu Dhabi Police.

He said that Abu Dhabi and its suburbs had witnessed around 37 road accidents, claiming six lives, including four young men during this festive period.

He said that seven accidents were caused by jumping the red signal which left 22 people injured.

Twenty-three other people were injured in other accidents caused by sharp turns, speeding and negligent driving.

Six accidents took place in Al Ain in which two persons were killed and 11 others were injured.

In the Western Region , one person was killed and another seriously injuried in a road mishap.
