Nida Najeeb and Evana Bose stormed into the final of the girls under 18 championships at the 39th India Club UAE Open badminton tourney.
In the semis, Evana downed Rithika Rajith 21-7, 21-10 and Nida had to wait to go through a deciding third set before winning 20-22, 21-7, 21-8 against Neha Anna Abraham.
In the quarterfinals of the veteran's doubles 45 and above, Dr. Shafi Ul Mulk and Xavier Raphel defeated Santosh Keparambath / Savio Thomas 22-20, 21-8 while Ashok Kumar Viswanathan and Saji Philip got a walkover from Pawan Kumar and Pramod Kumar.
Siyad Mohammed partnered Meeta Bhandari to a 22-21, 17-21, 21-15 victory over Dr. Shafi Ul Mulk and Palwasha Bahir 22-21, 17-21, 21-15 in the veterans above 45 mixed doubles.
Aneesh Manirikandy and Suresh Menon defeated Anto Davis and Upkar Singh 14-21, 21-17, 21-15 in a tough super veteran's above 55 doubles encounter while in the last four stage of the veterans above 50 doubles, Abdul Salam A. A. teamed up with Lal Mani to stop the Abdul Latheef -Mustafa Theruvath pairing, 21-16, 21-14.
