The plant, being constructed at a total cost of Dh40 million is 75 per cent complete and aims at increasing the Dubai water network catering to the requirements of the urban expansions all across the emirate.

It will be ready for operations by September this year.

The project consists of eight water pumps; six of which will be working permanently on rotation basis and the two will serve as reserves

Each pump will be able to produce 10 million gallons of water daily, Al Tayer said.

“By wrapping up this pivotal project, the plant will be able to raise water up to the high areas along the new Jebel Ali-Lahbab Road and the Dubai Bypass Road.

“This means it will secure the requisite water supply to the urban projects that are made alongside these roads,” he said.
