ABU DHABI — New standards will soon be earmarked for labour accommodations to ensure companies provide standard facilities to workers, UAE’s Minister of Labour Saqr Ghobash Saeed Ghobash has said.
Ghobash said the labour accommodations must meet international standards with regard to the number of workers staying in a room, the quality of food being served, as well security and safety in the premises.
The minister said that the violating firms would invite tough punishments. “I hope not to find violators,” he said.
“The workers’ rights are a ‘Red Line’ that cannot be breached by anyone,” he noted. ahmed@khaleejtimes.com
