The minister said this while he was visiting a labour accommodation in Yas Island. The visit came as part of the ministry’s efforts to reiterate the importance of providing suitable housing and facilities to workers.

Ghobash said the labour accommodations must meet international standards with regard to the number of workers staying in a room, the quality of food being served, as well security and safety in the premises.

The minister said that the violating firms would invite tough punishments. “I hope not to find violators,” he said.

“The workers’ rights are a ‘Red Line’ that cannot be breached by anyone,” he noted. ahmed@khaleejtimes.com
