New rules for Australian visas announced

ABU DHABI - The Australian embassy has announced new arrangements for visa applications from the Gulf states starting from May 16.

According to a Press release of the embassy, Gulf residents applying for any type of Australian visa will now be able to submit their applications at two visa application and collection centres in Dubai and Abu Dhabi. The new arrangement will be in addition to the electronic visa application facility now available to UAE and Kuwaiti nationals.

The Australian government has concluded an agreement with VSF Express to provide the new service both at Dubai and Abu Dhabi. VSF Express has also introduced special arrangements which will allow Aramex to accept visa applications from other Gulf states for speedy delivery to the VFS office in Dubai.

The two visa application and collection centres will operate from 8am to 4pm, Saturday to Wednesday. Details can be found at www.vis.ae from May 15 or by calling VSF Express on 04-3553258.

According to the rules all visa applications (with the exception of refugee applications) have to be submitted at the offices of VSF Express, non-visa applications (e.g. citizenship registrations) can still be lodged at the Immigration Section, Australian Consulate General, the Immigration Section will still provide other services such as visa evidencing and certification.
