New Regulations for Private Schools for Next Academic Year

DUBAI — The Ministry of Education is looking to conduct a series of meetings to set down new regulations for private education, which will be applicable by the beginning of the next academic year 2009/2010. Performance of schools will also be evaluated periodically with reports to identify and resolve 
related issues.

At the first meeting with the Office of Supervision and Control of private schools of the Ministry of Dubai, the directors of educational zones and principals of private schools made presentations about regulations for the private education sector.

Articles were reviewed and the important ministerial decisions were discussed.

Dr Mariam Ahmed Nasser Al-Ali, Director of the Office of the supervision and control of private schools, the Ministry of Education said, “The Ministry of Education will work to implement the regulations and monitor the schools’ compliance to them by evaluation of their performance and supervision during various stages of implementation.”

Under review were regulations for areas such as the registration of students in the private sector, qualification and experience of teaching and administrative staff, public health requirements, student’s safety and security, parent’s right and responsibility towards schools and teachers.
