Mass arrests as demonstrations spread from Columbia and Yale to other US universities
In remarks during a meeting with natives of the Western Region here yesterday Shaikh Khalifa assured his audience that new projects encompassing the sectors of real-estate, tourism and services would be executed in the Western Region in accordance with new concepts of development.
These projects, he said, would be implemented in a manner that would add value to the national economy.
“The projects would bring new investment opportunities to citizens of the area”, he said.
After listening to the needs of the citizens, Shaikh Khalifa stressed the need to train the youth of the area so as to cope with the nature of projects that are being implemented.
With adequate training and skills, he said, the young men and women of the Western Region would be able to make creative initiatives in taking up opportunities availed by the new projects.
Attracting investments
“Nowadays, it is not only cities that are attracting larger populations. New areas are also attracting investments, thanks to their competitive edge. The government would encourage any initiatives by the private sector to invest in these areas”, the President said.
For their part, the citizens of the Western Region expressed their happiness to have met with Shaikh Khalifa.
They hailed the opportunity given to them as quintessential of Shaikh Khalifa, whose leadership, they said, knows no barrier with the citizens.
They also hailed the fact that Shaikh Khalifa’s visit coincided with the launch of new projects in the Western Region.
The meeting was attended by General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, Shaikh Hazza bin Zayed Al Nahyan, National Security Adviser, and Lt-General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Interior.
A number of other shaikhs and senior officials were also present.
