A circular to this effect has been sent to all government and private schools in the country.

Under the new curriculum, figures are to be read and written from left to right. Likewise are the four basic mathematical functions and the process of organising data in charts.

The UAE Centre for Curriculum Development and Educational Materials at the Education Ministry has ordered that all the schools must abide by the new version of mathematics syllabus set for the academic year 2007-2008.

All the previous versions, intentionally or unintentionally, distributed by some schools are cancelled and unaccredited, it stated.
