Ahmed Al Shamri, Head of Abattoirs Section, said the municipality is offering the facilities at the butchery free to its employees on the first day as an encouragement to them to use the service.

He said the customers could now buy animals, get them butchered and cut into pieces according to their needs all under one roof at a hygienic and organised place. There will also be a group of doctors who will inspect the animals and the meat.

Earlier, people could only get the animals slaughtered at the abattoir but had to take them outside to cut the meat as per their convenience.

The new butchery would help them save time and also ensure that the meat is not contaminated.

Al Shamri said Dh50 will be charged for cutting small animals and Dh100 for big animals.
