Speaking at a welcoming reception organised on Friday to introduce him to the Abu Dhabi-based Pakistani expatriates, hosted by the Pakistan Embassy officials, Mr Hussain said Pakistan and the UAE enjoy strong and brotherly relations.

"We cherish our common heritage, history and our mutual cooperation in different fields has further strengthened the bilateral ties," he said.

Mr Hussain advised the community members to devote their energies towards the development of the UAE, which is their second home, taking it to new horizons. He said it is a matter of pride that the Pakistani community has served the UAE in all fields.

The Ambassador-designate reminded the community members that they are ambassadors of Pakistan and to this end they have to play their role to widen the scope of the strong relations between the two countries.

A film on the life and achievements of Mr Hussain as an air force officer was also screened on the occasion.
