Nepalese community celebrate ‘Teej’
DUBAI — Members of the Nepalese community in the UAE celebrated their traditional “Teej” festival yesterday with a cultural presentation at the Astoria Hotel in Bur Dubai.
The cultural event, which was held in anticipation of their country’s actual celebration of Teej ritual today, was jointly organised by the Nepalese Society in UAE and the Nepalese Ladies Group (NLG).
Featuring colourful dances and songs, the cultural presentation had been a re-enactment of Nepal’s fasting festival for women that often takes place in August, said NLG President Radhika Sanzel.
Performers at the cultural event were members of the NLG. Also present during the occasion were officials of the Royal Nepalese Embassy in Abu Dhabi led by Second Secretary Prakash Mani Paudel.
