About 319 complaints were also received from the public and were handled by the section.

He pointed out that a large number of waste containers of different sizes have been placed at Al Nasr and Al Ahli sports clubs during the Fifa Youth World Cup.

He said that a meeting was held with the sponsor company of the 'Best Environment 2004' programme to select the best projects submitted in co-ordination with the Ministry of Education and Youth.

He added that the three topics put forward to the contestants were air pollution, environmental study of mountains and valleys, and environment awareness campaigns.

Mr Makki pointed out that the final phase of the general plan for upgrading the supervisory body will soon be completed. "Emiratisation of district officers will accommodate certain university graduates in different specialisations," he said.
