EHS, the Environment, Health and Safety regulatory arm of Dubai World, made the joint announcement with Pacific Control Systems LLC (PCS).

The centre aims at helping Middle East developers obtain ‘Green Building’ certification under the US Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Rating System.

EHS CEO Ahmed Abdul Hussain said the centre was part of Dubai’s aims for sustainable development through the Dubai Strategic Plan 2015.

“It is the manifestation of our core mission, which is to create and sustain a cleaner, healthier environment, and a more eco-friendly country,” he said.

“The MCSD, which is a policy certification and research institution, is merely the beginning. More initiatives on these lines will certainly follow.”

The centre would also streamline the designing, certifying and implementation of development projects for clients.

PCS Chairman and CEO Dilip Rahulan said the MCSD would put Dubai on the global map for environment protection and energy efficient practices while EHS Free Zone and Industrial Operations Manager Alex Abraham said the move would result in major reductions of energy consumption and carbon emissions.
