Motorists urged not to park vehicles in front of fire hydrants

ABU DHABI — The Abu Dhabi Traffic and Patrols Department has urged drivers not to park their cars in front of fire hydrants and in the parking spaces reserved for people with special needs in the city and its suburbs. The department also said that parking in such places will not be allowed without permission.

Major Jamal AL Amiri, the chief of the Department of Information and Public Relation of the Abu Dhabi Traffic and Patrols Department said, "We are doing our best to stop traffic violations and fining perpetrators as per federal traffic law."

He added that the first half of the year witnessed a drop in the number of those who violated rules regarding parking their cars in front of fire hydrants and in areas allotted to the physically challenged.

It was also pointed out that the fine for parking in such prohibited places has been raised to Dh500 from Dh150 since April last year.
