All speeding violations caught by fixed and mobile radars on RAK roads are genuine, the traffic and patrols department of the Ras Al Khaimah (RAK) Police has confirmed.
The statement was issued in response to complaints received from motorists about being imaged on the roads despite observing the speed limits.
Brigadier Dr Mohammed Saeed Al Humaidi, director-general of central operations at the RAK Police, said they received similar complaints on different roads of the emirate. "Some drivers even claimed a difference in flashing between fixed and mobile radars. All this proved to be baseless upon verification.
"Some drivers were not attentive enough to notice the difference in speed limits on different roads. They failed to change their speed as per the road limit, and were nabbed driving at a higher speed than the limit of the road."
Brig Humaidi said all the radars used by RAK police are precise and of high quality. "Should there be any problem, the traffic and patrol department immediately takes action, fixes the faulty gadget, and cancels the recorded fine." The police have installed more radars on the roads to better curb speeding motorists and reduce traffic accidents and casualties.
