Col. Nasser Salem Al Muraddad, head of the Traffic and Licensing Department, said, “Many motorists have a tendency of speeding during the times towards Iftar as they rush home to end their fast with their families. This is very dangerous because drivers who usually speed on congested roads during these rush hours cause accidents which on many occasions harm innocent road users.”

He noted that it was important for the people who are fasting to take care of their routine properly during Ramadan, including leaving their workplaces in time, so that they can get ample time to drive home safely and reach before Iftar.

Col. Muraddad said the police had stepped up traffic patrols during Ramadan, especially on the congested roads and in the vicinity of the markets and shopping malls.
