According to a senior officer, the victim was coming from Dubai in the direction of Ras Al Khaimah.

Lt-Col Saeed Obaid bin Aran, Director of the Traffic and Patrols Department at the UAQ Police, said the man, after crossing the New Bypass Road known as the Outer Bypass Road, entered Emirates Road very fast and lost control over the wheel.

The vehicle rammed the bridge killing him on the spot. The body was shifted to the UAQ Hospital. “Speeding and inattentive driving led to the accident,” he said.

Calling for caution, Lt-Col Bin Aran urged all motorists to be attentive on the road and avoid speeding. “Driving fast is one of the main reasons behind traffic accidents.”

Earlier this month, two motorists died on the spot in an accident close to Exit No. 110 on Emirates Road.

The mishap occurred when the driver of a minibus was speeding in the direction of Ras Al Khaimah.

The minibus veered of the road and suddenly entered the road for traffic in the other direction.

“Unfortunately, the minibus and a vehicle coming in the other direction collided head on, and both drivers died on the spot,” said Lt-Col Bin Aran.
