Mohammed’s pat for local art world

DUBAI — His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, received on Friday night at Zabeel Palace a group of cultural and artistic personalities who called on him to extend greetings on the advent of the holy month of Ramadan.

Shaikh Mohammed exchanged with the writers, intellectuals, poets and artists the latest developments on the local cultural scene.

Shaikh Mohammed praised their positive role in promoting and disseminating the civilisational legacy of the UAE people in the genre of story, drama, painting and other forms of cultural creativity.

“The local cultural landscape is rich with events and activities,” Shaikh Mohammed added.

He urged them to enrich the local culture landscape with creative achievements that contribute to safeguarding “our national heritage and identity, promoting openness to and building bridges with civilisations and cultures of the world”.

He told them their message is excellently humanitarian and noble as it focuses on enriching and refreshing the memory of the people through revival of the heritage, arts and culture to life.

The intelligentsia praised Shaikh Mohammed for his support for culture and art, considering his encouragement and follow up of cultural events as a big catalyst to them to exert more creative efforts to enhance the local identity, heritage and originality.

Crown Prince of Dubai Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Minister for Cabinet Affairs Mohammed Abdullah Al Gergawi, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development Abdul Rahman Mohammed Al Owais and Deputy Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority Mohammed Al Mur were also present during the meeting. —
