Mohammed receives scholars, presidential guests scholars

His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai received on Tuesday night at Za’beel Palace scholars who converged from Arab and Islamic countries as guests of His Highness the President, members of the judges committee of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award and guests of the annual Ramadan gathering.

Shaikh Mohammed exchanged with the guests the greetings on the occasion of the Holy Month of Ramadan, wishing more prosperity and welfare for the UAE people and leadership and the Arab and Islamic nations.

Present were Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and Shaikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy ruler of Dubai.

During the dialogue at his Majlis, the Vice-President welcomed the presidential guests scholars, expressing his happiness to meet that elite of the nation’s scholars, who spread their religious teachings and message away of extremisms, stressing that Islam is the religion of tolerance and love and undoubtedly the religion of moderation.

“The leadership, people and government of the UAE respect scholars, scientists and writers, and we learned that principle and approach from the late Shaikh Zayed and it became a part of our Arab and Islamic customs and values that we cherish,” Shaikh Mohammed said.

Shaikh Mohammed also stressed the importance of the moderate way in representing Islam, away from violence, threatening or coercion, adding “These are the qualities and ethics of Prophet Mohammed ‘Peace be Upon Him, since he was known for modesty, tolerance, generosity and love of peace and goodness.”

The scholars extended thanks and appreciation to Shaikh Mohammed and the UAE wise leadership for the care given to Islam and Muslims in all occasions and particularly in the Holy Month of Ramadan, highlighting the importance of the Dubai International Holy Quran Award (DIHQA) in spreading of Islamic awareness and all sciences of Qur’an among the youth worldwide.

The scholars also highlighted the humanitarian aid, provided by the UAE for the displaced and underprivileged people in the Islamic countries and around the world, especially poor countries and countries experiencing wars and natural disasters, thanks to the ethics, values and generosity of the UAE leadership and people.

Shaikh Mohammed and the guests performed Maghreb prayer which was followed by an Iftar meal.

Shaikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority and Chairman of Emirates Group, Shaikh Majed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Dubai Culture and Arts Authority, senior officials attended the meeting.
