Mohammed receives Canadian defence staff chief

ABU DHABI — General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, received yesterday evening Chief of the Defence Staff of Canada General Rick Hillier and his accompanying delegation.

Shaikh Mohammed welcomed Gen. Hillier and lauded the level of ties between the two countries.

The meeting reviewed ties of cooperation and means of enhancing them particularly in military and defence fields.

Shaikh Mohammed and Gen. Hillier also discussed issues related to international efforts for peace and security as well as current developments in the region.

Attending the meeting were Shaikh Abdullah bin Rashid Al Mualla, Deputy Ruler of Umm Al Quwain; Lt-Gen. Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Interior Minister; Shaikh Ahmed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Under-Secretary for the Ministry of Finance and Industry and Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zayed Foundation for Charity and Humanitarian Works; Shaikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs; Shaikh Hamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Planning and Economy Department; Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Chief of the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court; Shaikh Mohammed bin Khalifa Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Finance Department; Shaikh Hamdan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Public Works; Shaikh Sultan bin Tahnoun Al Nahyan, Chairman of Abu Dhabi Tourism Authority; General Hamad Mohammed Thani Al Rumaithi, Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces; David Hutton, Canadian Ambassador; and other Shaikhs and senior officials.
