Mohammed meets Greenspan

DUBAI - General Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and UAE Defence Minister, yesterday met Chairman of US Federal Reserve Alan Greenspan. They discussed matters relating to world economy and the banking system. Gen. Shaikh Mohammed was briefed by Mr Greenspan on his long experience in the US banking and economic sectors.

Mr Greenspan praised the flexibility and the strength of the UAE banking system, noting that the UAE banking system drives its strength from the strength and soundness of the UAE national economy.

They also reviewed the agenda of the IMF/World Bank meetings and the preparations carried out by the UAE.

Mr Greenspan lauded the UAE's organisational abiltities, saying that it surpassed all expectations, particularly as the meetings were being held for the first time in an Arab country.
