Shaikh Mohammed also distributed awards and medals to the Dubai Metro work team, in the presence of Shaikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, and Shaikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai.
The awards were given in recognition of the efforts of the RTA chief and the Dubai Metro work team in completing the Red and Green Lines on schedule despite challenging deadlines.
Shaikh Mohammed congratulated Al Tayer on leading the RTA’s creative national workforce to overcome numerous obstacles on their way to bringing the metro project to fruition. He added that the metro system had become a new landmark for culture and tourism in the country.
Also honoured at the prize-giving ceremony, in the presence of a number of shaikhs, ministers, dignitaries and senior officials, were CEO of Trains Adnan Ahmed Al Hammadi, Executive Director of Strategy Abdul Mohsin Ibrahim and Executive Director of the RTA’s Roads and Traffic Agency Maitha Mohammed Bin Udai. Senior executives of the RTA Yousef Jawad Abdul Redha, Ramadan Abdullah Mohammad, Ali Hassan Al Mansouri, Hussein Al Dosari, Nabeel Mohammed Saleh and Nasser bin Hamad Bu Shehab also received recognition for their hard work and efforts.
Shaikh Mohammed congratulated the recipients, saying that they had demonstrated their ability to complete the project par excellence, despite all difficulties.
In response, Mattar Al Tayer expressed great pride in the awards that he and the RTA work team had received.
Shaikh Mohammed then watched a documentary film featuring the RTA’s various successes and achievements since its inception in 2005, the same year that Al Tayer was appointed the Executive Director of the authority.
Present at the ceremony were Director-General of Dubai Department of Information Shaikh Hasher bin Maktoum Al Maktoum, Minister of Cabinet Affairs Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Gergawi, Director of Dubai Ruler’s Court Mohammed Ibrahim Al Shaibani, other dignitaries and heads of government agencies. — news@khaleejtimes.com
