Shaikh Mohammed has chosen the design out of three models presented to him by Obeid Al Tayer, Chairman of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI).

Al Tayer said that a 2-million square feet plot had been allocated for the UOD, of which 450,000 square feet will be occupied by buildings.

“A tender will be announced before the end of the current year. The Dh500 million project will be executed in two phases with each one accommodating 5,000 students, taking the total students body to 10,000,” he added.

The UOD, previously known as Dubai University College, is being financially and administratively supervised by the DCCI.

Meanwhile, Shaikh Mohammed was briefed on a study conducted by the DCCI on the Consumer Price Index (CPI) which is the key to gauge inflation rate accurately using international standards. The CPI also measures average change in prices of commodities and services quarterly. It is an important mechanism to monitor average real economic growth.
