Mohammed among 10 influential leaders

His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice- President and Prime Min-ister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has been includeed on a list of the ten most influential leaders on the Internet during 2011.

The list was prepared by Digital Daya, an independent research institute based in the United States. Also appearing on the list of leaders prominent on the Internet and social networking sites were US President Barack Obama, Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez, British Prime Minister David Cameron, Mexican President Felipe Calderon, President Dilma Rousseff of Brazil, President of the Philip-pines Benigno Aquino, Turkish President Ab-dullah Gul, Argentine President Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner and President Sebastian Bandeira Chile.

The research institute said that Shaikh Mohammed stood amongst leaders in the Middle East for his utilisation of social networking sites as part of his overall communications strategy. The institute also noted that by communicating openly in both Arabic and English, Shaikh Mohammed had become a role model for leader-ship in the region.
