Mohammed: Activate Role of Competitiveness Council

ABU DHABI - His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum ,Vice- President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, on Sunday, stressed the need for activating the role of the Emirates Competitiveness Council locally and abroad to achieve the objectives of the federal government strategy based on all components of sustainable development and how best to develop national capacities to employ them in the service of the country.

Shaikh Mohammed was attending a lecture about UAE Competitiveness in Abu Dhabi organised by “Emirates Competitiveness Council “. Professor Michael Porter delivered a lecture about the UAE competiveness.

Also present at the lecture were UAE Ministers and more than 350 employees from the federal government.

Professor Michael Porter elaborated a number of factors that affect competitiveness and how to inculcate the competitiveness concept in public institutions, among countries and individuals. He also tackled the issue in the UAE and proposals to bolster it in the country.

Abdullah Nasser Lootah, Secretary General of the Emirates Competitiveness Council, said that the aim of holding such a forum was to highlight the role of public institutions to preserve the achievements in the light of regional and international competition and brainstorm over the best methods to further develop future competitive strategy to boost the position in the world map.
