MoH studies proposal on new syringes

ABU DHABI —The Ministry of Health (MoH) is studying a proposal to introduce a modern type of syringes to avoid infections that might result from vaccination, according to a senior health official.

The MoH will also introduce a new kind of needle that automatically expires and can not be used more than once, according to Dr Mahmoud Fekri, Assistant Under-Secretary for Preventive Medicine Department at the MoH.

He said the proposal will be thoroughly discussed during the upcoming meeting of the Higher National Vaccination Committee scheduled for July 17 in Abu Dhabi.

The committee will also discuss need for introducing a new vaccine for prevention of encephalitis (a viral infection of the brain), said Dr Fekri who is also the Head of the Committee.
