MoH for ties with Sharjah varsity

SHARJAH — The Ministry of Health (MoH) has discussed with the College of Medicine and Health Sciences in Sharjah University the possibilities of their participation in the assessment examinations for GP doctors and technicians in various specialisations. The exam is in preparation of their employment in the ministry’s hospitals and health centres or health facilities that are licensed and approved by the Ministry of Health.

The step comes in activation of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which was signed by the university and the ministry previously to enhance cooperation in several medical and health fields in addition to training and continuous medical education and health researches. This was stated by Dr Amin Hussein Al Amiri, Assistant Undersecretary for Medical Practices and Licensing, after the meeting which was held on the premises of the College of Medicine and Health Sciences.

The meeting was attended by Dr Hussam Hamdy, acting Director of Sharjah University and Dean of the college and Supervisor of the medical researches in the university in addition to a number of officials from the ministry and the university.

Dr Hussam Hamdy welcomed the members of the ministry reassuring the consolidated relations between two parties that would support medical and health services and societal partnerships.

Dr Amin Al Amiri lauded the role of the Sharjah University and the college thanks to the instructions of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council, Ruler of Sharjah and President of Sharjah University and Sharjah Academy for Scientific Researches.

Dr Al Amiri said: “We discussed the possibilities of supporting the College of Medicine and Health Sciences in the assessment and licensing exams.”

The two parties also agreed on forming a common committee to follow up the implementation procedures needed for the evaluation and assessment of doctors. —
