Ministry’s nod must for health advertisements

DUBAI —The Ministry of Health (MoH) has instructed the Dubai Road and Transport Authority (RTA) and the municipalities across the country not to issue permits for mobile and fixed advertisements for health products on roads, shops and commercial buildings and advise applicants to approach the ministry’s medical advertisements department for approval.

Dr Abdul Kareem Al Zarouni, director of the department, said that advertisers should adhere to guidelines issued by the department for regulating health-related advertisements.

“The advertiser should also add the phrase that the advert has been sanctioned by the MoH, mentioning the number, the date of issue and expiry of the licence in the advertisement,” he added.

The advertiser, he warned, should not make any changes in the wording of the advertisement without approval from the department.

“The design of the advertisement should not be changed under any circumstances and if any changes take place, the advertiser should notify the department,” he said.
