Ministry warning to clinic

ABU DHABI — The Ministry of Health has issued a warning to a dental clinic for allowing a dentist to work without first obtaining approval from the Licensing Committee. The warning was issued to the clinic’s manager. Authorities declined to name the clinic.

It also warned the dentist for committing a technical error during his treatment of a female patient. The Committee studied the complaint filed against the dentist and subsequently decided to serve him the warning.

Annual forum

ABU DHABI — Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Education and Chairman of Zayed University, will inaugurate on Sunday the University's 8th Annual Forum at the Abu Dhabi Emirates Palace, which will run for two days.

Shaikh Nahyan will address the forum in which cabinet ministers, top officials, businessmen, public figures and bodies concerned with education will partake. Members of the university's administration and teaching staff will also be honoured.

Body language

ABU DHABI — Sixteen police officers attended a "Body Language" course organised by Department of Police Institutes and Schools at Abu Dhabi Police.

The week-long training was intended to enhance the capabilities of police officers and their skills in interacting with members of the community. In a speech at the graduation ceremony, Captain Waleed Salim Al Shamsi, Director of Administrative Training institute, said the body language training course was a highly important activity. "It's an art and a science by virtue of which policemen can understand others without needing to use speech," he added. At the end of the ceremony, Captain Al Shamsi distributed certificates to the graduates.

Appreciation

DUBAI — The Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) has received strong appreciation for its community and social initiatives at a ceremony organised by the Al Farooq Centre at the Dubai Police Club to felicitate nearly 100 participants of its Holy Quran Recitation Programme.

About 60 of the participants were from the second session of the programme conducted during the summer season. The programme participants hail from Bosnia, Bahrain, Afghanistan, Qatar and Syria in addition to the UAE.

Certificates and prizes were presented by Shaikh Mohammed bin Maktoum bin Juma Al Maktoum in the presence of Shaikh Sulaiman Al Jebilan of Saudi Arabia. The DTCM Manager Human Resources, Ibrahim Yaqoot, was also present.
