Ministry suspends cards of 1,246 firms

ABU DHABI — The Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs has issued its annual report on the activities of the labour inspection section in Abu Dhabi, which showed the types of labour violations and their numbers.

Qassim Jamil, Head of the Labour Inspection Section, said that 1,246 establishment cards were suspended for violations, while 787 establishment cards regained their legal status.

This, he said, showed that the number of erring establishments was double than those who settled their status.

The number of labourers referred from official agencies to be deported (including immigration authorities) totalled 3,789, and they were checked by the section, he said.

The sections verified 2,680 subcontracts, and followed up 1,025 documents referred to it by police, he said, adding that the largest portion of work related to field inspections on individual visas, which totalled 11,122 cases, while group visas numbered 248 visas.
