This would make them understand their rights under the law and their duties in the work place.

We had pointed out that with their limited understanding, labourers are not always able to comprehend the obligations that the law imposes on them in their relationship with their employers.

Arabic daily ‘Al Khaleej’ yesterday quoted a reliable Ministry source as saying that some labourers blame violations on their ignorance of the law.

The source added that it would be possible to bring down labour disputes if both employers and labourers were aware of the law. This only confirms our point.

In the context, we would urge the Ministry to study our suggestion for organising seminars for labourers on the relevant laws.

We are sure this would help reduce labour complaints drastically, which is also a major function of the Ministry.
