Ministry of Labour Asks Workers to Report Favourable Court Verdicts

ABU DHABI - Workers must report the court judgments in their favour in labour dispute cases to the Ministry of Labour to ensure that they are implemented. Otherwise, they would face a labour ban for staying illegally in the country, according to the ministry’s Acting General Manager, Humaid bin Deemas.

He was speaking at the ministry’s open day on Monday, attended by 30 workers, and owners and public relations officers of companies.

Bin Deemas said many workers have not reported the verdicts issued in their favour by courts even two years ago to the ministry.

The Ministry of Justice established a joint unit with the MoLlast month to follow up on the workers’ cases and ensure fast judgments.

The unit, Natwasal, was launched to receive workers’ complaints or judgments from courtsand process them within five days.

“We aim at protecting the workers’ rights by providing fast services to them,” said Bin Deemas.

The workers who have cases in the courts have the right to get temporary work permits for three months which can be renewed for another three months.
