An official at the Private Education Department was in for a surprise when a casual caller who asked for information about the licensing procedures turned out to be Dr Hanif Hassan himself, a source told Khaleej Times.

The newly-appointed minister is also known for his surprise visits. He has reportedly 'ambushed' several departments of the ministry in the country. According to sources, the move, as was also the case with former minister of education, Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, is helping improve performance and fighting carelessness in offices and departments affiliated to the ministry.
