A UAE minister has applauded the joint efforts by the Friends of Cancer Patients (FoCP) and World Cancer Declaration for Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) on spreading awareness about cancer, providing psychological and financial support to patients and helping them continue their treatment.
Shaikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, Minister of Culture, Youth and Community Development, said: "These collaborative efforts between a UAE society, FoCP, that has exceptional experience in helping cancer patients and their families; and a highly experienced and professional United Nations organisation, the UICC, have helped alleviate the ordeal of many cancer patients, enhanced their recovery opportunities and we hope, put a smile on their faces," Shaikh Nahyan said.
He praised the efforts of Shaikha Jawaher bint Mohammed Al Qasimi, Wife of the Ruler of Sharjah, Founder and Royal Patron of FoCP, International Ambassador of the UICC, and International Ambassador for Childhood Cancer for UICC.
He made these remarks while receiving Dr Cary Adams, CEO of the UICC and chairperson of Non Communicable Diseases Alliance, who is currently on a visit to the UAE.

He commended Shaikha Jawaher's "significant role" in helping cancer patients
The UICC, he said, considers Shaikha Jawaher as one of the most important, influential and strategic partners, able and willing to implement projects to provide support for children with cancer worldwide.
