MF deposits Dhs 11.18 mn for second batch of grant recipients
ABU DHABI - A list of 306 eligible recipients of the Marriage Fund grant was approved by Dr. Maitha bint Salem Al Shamsi, Minister of State, and Chairwoman of the Fund.
The total amount ofDhs 11.18 million for the second batch of 2013 had already been transferred to the beneficiaries through their bank accounts. They were also notified through SMS’s.
The Marriage Fund is offering each prospective brideDhs 70,000 as financial assistance to help him build a stable, coherent family. Al Shamsi said the grant is playing a vital role in spurring Emirati youth to wed to Emirati women and keep away from wedding to foreign women.
A Fund-sponsored study showed that 82% of Emirati youth were conscious of the negative impact of wedding to foreign women. While 49% said they might not take that step, 41% didn’t rule out possibility of getting marriage to foreign women. 93% of respondents advised their peers to take a native partner.
