Stations on the new Green Line are now 50 to 80 per cent complete, said Mattar Al Tayer, Executive Director of the Roads and Transport Authority.

The 22.5km line, which will run parallel to the creek from Al Qusais to Al Jaddaf, will have 18 stations – including two which intersect with the current Red Line.

In a statement, Al Tayer urged contractors to push ahead with construction to meet the deadline of next year.

At the beginning of the month, the RTA announced that all Metro stations on the Red Line would be complete by February next year. It is not known whether the opening will come all at once or over a period of time.
