The book presents, in detail, the friendly relations between the two countries, highlighting the important stages of their evolution, and underlining the efforts made by both UAE and Germany to transform these ties into a strategic partnership.

The study also focuses on the efforts made by the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, to expand areas of cooperation between the two countries, through his meetings with German leaders.

Apart from these political and bilateral relations, the study also covers the economic, commercial and investment partnership between the two nations.

The UAE and Germany have identical views on international issues, specially matters relating to the Middle East.

The study coincides with German Chancellor Angela Merkel’s visit to the UAE. Merkel, who is also President of the European Council, will arrive in Abu Dhabi today. She will meet UAE leaders and senior officials. She will also give a lecture this evening on the ‘Challenges for European Foreign Policy’ at the Emirates Centre for Strategic Studies and Research.
