Renowned scholar Imam Abu Usamah Al Thahabi stated this at a lecture he delivered as part of the cultural programme of the Ninth Ramadan Forum, in Al Twar area opposite Dubai Airport Terminal-2.
In his lecture titled “Quran, Recite and Rise”, the scholar said that memorising and reciting of the Holy Quran has played a tremendous role in preserving its verses throughout the Islamic history.
“This has enabled Muslims to recite the Holy Quran the same way it was recited at the time of our Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him),” he said. In his lecture, Sheikh Abu Usamah, Imam of the Green Lane Masjid at Birmingham, UK, said that the ranking of a Muslim on the Judgment Day would be determined by how much and how well he memorised and recited the Holy Quran.
“Intimate relation with the Holy Quran has dramatically altered the lives of hundreds and thousands of people, who not only learn the Holy Quran and perfect its recitation but have also become well known Islamic scholars.”
He added that the angel Gabriel used to come to the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) every day in the holy month of Ramadan to make sure he read, memorised and recited the Holy Quran the same way Allah wanted him to do.
Meanwhile, Khalid Al Marri, General Administrator of Forum said that the activities and lectures had attracted thousands of people so far.
