Mefit 2008 will be held from March 27 to March 29 at the Aviation Club in Dubai.

This was announced at a Press conference held at Dubai Ladies Club yesterday. March 29 has been designated as a special day for women and children at the Dubai Ladies Club, a member of the Dubai Women Establishment.

To spread awareness about the need to stay healthy, a ‘Have-A-Go’ day will be organised for children on March 27 and March 29 in cooperation with the ‘Right to Play’, a foundation established by Princess Haya bint Hussein, wife of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Health and fitness activities have gained considerable significance following the recent release of government statistics. Research has found 74 per cent of the people in the UAE are classified as overweight, 24 per cent diabetic and 25 per cent of the deaths in the country occur due to heart diseases.
