Meat import ban lifted

ABU DHABI — The Secretariat-General of the UAE Municipalities (SGM) has lifted a ban on meat imported from Ireland and France after meeting the set, technical and health specifications and conditions.

An approval has also been granted for import of meat from Iran, Kenya, and Tanzania. Meanwhile, the secretariat postponed till further notice lifting of the ban on import of poultry products from India and some Asian countries, according to an official source. Aimed at reviewing the procedures adopted as regards meat imports, a meeting is said to be held next Sunday at the SGM Veterinary Monitoring Committee.
