The operation involved hoisting a ship weighing 2,500 tons and transporting it safely to the ship repair yard’s new maintenance workshop on the man-made peninsula.

It was carried out by the technical management team of Jadaf Dubai in the presence of a number of officials and marine engineers from DD World and Dubai Maritime City, using the new custom-made mega crane installed at the company's new docks.

The massive ship lift, 90 metres long, 25 metres wide and 14 metres in depth is installed in the 100 metre long berth and has a capacity to lift ships weighing up to 3,000 tons.

An even larger ship lift designed to service vessels weighing up to six thousand tons will be installed in an adjacent 150-metre long dock that will house 11 berths.

Jadaf Dubai, which began operations in 1978, provides comprehensive maintenance and repair services to owners of small and mid-sized vessels, large wooden boats, luxury yachts and cruise ships.
