Giuseppe Moscatello, Maraya Art Centre Curator said: “We are very pleased to host a festival that has its roots in the UAE. The Twinge festival highlights the amount of talents we have in this country, it is a festival which incorporates the whole community and encourages involvement from everyone from all spheres and backgrounds. We in Shurooq recognized the potential of TwingeSHJ and have given it our full support. Shurooq’s main aim has always been to preserve and promote the indigenous cultures of the region and maintain Sharjah’s distinct identity”.

Sherif Abaza, Managing Partner of Sphere Events and founder of the Twinge festivals believes that the support of the community is essential to the workings of the festival. He explains: “The festival cannot be a success without the support of the community. Putting together a string of events, like this, is challenging and we cannot do it without the involvement of the local community to sustain the development, organization and growth of the events”.

Maraya Art Centre was officially launched in March 2010 as one of the UAE’s most spectacular venues for contemporary visual arts.
