According to Lt. Colonel Ali Salim Al Khayyal, the 43-year-old Qatari national, MFN, has been on the wanted list of the Qatari authorities since 1993 after running away from justice on a number of drug-trafficking offences. He said MFN eluded arrest by travelling on the passport of an Arab country where he had acquired nationality, adding that his arrest was a result of close cooperation among the various security agencies in the country.

Lt. Colonel Al Khayyal praised the UAE and Qatari security authorities for their cooperation.
