Court records showed that the accused had wickedly reported a non-existing crime to the General Directorate of Operations.

He claimed that the victim, identified as Fikram, was a dangerous criminal and terrorist wanted in his homeland Bangladesh.

Interrogations and investigations, however, proved Fikram to be innocent and the report to be untrue.

In another case, the Dubai Misdemeanour Court ordered Mohammed S.M. yesterday to serve two months in prison, followed by deportation, on the charge of having an item associated with a crime in his possession.

Court records showed that Ahmed Ali Mohammed lodged a complaint with the Dubai Police on April 13, confirming that 12 days back, he took his damaged car to one Al Ghusais garage to repair.

He gave its key to Khaled Khan Wahid in the presence of two witnesses working with the same garage.

Whenever he checked the car, he found it not repaired.

When enquiring about the car, a day before lodging the complaint, he found it missing.

One of the witnesses told him that Khaled sold the car and ran away.

The victim reported the incident to the Dubai Police, which directly initiated investigations and found the car in one of the emirates of Umm Al Quwain scrap shops.

The second accused, identified as Mohammed Salahudeen, admitted to purchasing the stolen car from the first culprit against Dh5,000.

He paid a deposit of Dh2,000, and promised to pay the rest later.

Accordingly, the Public Prosecution charged him with purchasing a stolen item, since he did not check its source as it was damaged, and did not follow the set procedures for purchasing a car.

Hence, he may have been aware that it was stolen.
