DUBAI — A salesman went on trial at the Dubai Court of First Instance yesterday for attempting to bribe a policeman for striking off his name from the list of absconders and quashing the ‘all points bulletin’ issued against him.
The Public Prosecution accused 37-year-old Sh.A.M. of offering Dh1,000 as bribe to a corporal on September 19 this year in return for removing the ‘all ports warning’ circulated to police stations and checkpoints as well as erasing his name from the list of absconders.
While standing in the dock, the accused admitted that he had attempted to bribe the policeman.
In his statement before the court, the police corporal, identified as S.M., said the defendant approached him at the police station to seek rectification of his residency status.
“He said he wanted to talk to me in private,” the policeman stated.
