RAS AL KHAIMAH — A man was put behind bars yesterday for allegedly stabbing a shopkeeper and stealing Dh3,000 from his shop.
The Indian national, working with a leading construction material factory here, stabbed the Bangladeshi shopkeeper in his chest while he was working in his grocery in one of the emirate's residential areas. The man is then alleged to have taken the money from the shop's safe box and fled. The investigators managed to identify him by taking his fingerprints from the knife which he had dropped while leaving the crime scene.
On being alerted, rescue teams from RAK Civil Defence Department, rushed to the shop and brought the 50-year-old victim to the emergency department of Saqr Hospital. The hospital sources said the knife had penetrated the victim's chest and caused serious injuries to his lung.
Due to the seriousness of his case, the victim remained in the ICU for several days and was then shifted to the orthopaedic ward.
