And what is more, the passport was stolen from the custody of the Sharjah Police where it was deposited by Sadanand, after he was caught for drinking alcohol.

Sadanand was arrested by the Sharjah police on October 2, 2003, for drinking alcohol and was referred to the Sharjah Court which sentenced him to one month in jail to be followed by deportation.

After he appealed, he was acquitted because he was new to the UAE and did not know the rules of the country. He was advised by the Sharjah court to collect his passport from the Sharjah Police, but he was shocked to learn that his passport was lost from police custody.
